Description

More Than an Alcohol Test — A Complete Compliance Record

When an alcohol test may later be reviewed during an audit, investigation, legal proceeding, or internal compliance review, documentation matters just as much as the test result.

The Alco-Sensor RBT VXL Full Data System is designed for organizations that require comprehensive electronic and printed records for every alcohol test. Rather than recording only the breath alcohol result, the system documents the information needed to create a complete chain of custody, helping employers demonstrate consistent testing procedures and maintain defensible documentation.

Built around the trusted Alco-Sensor VXL evidential breath alcohol instrument, the Full Data System combines evidential-grade accuracy with guided testing workflows that help Breath Alcohol Technicians (BATs) follow established testing procedures while reducing manual paperwork.

Whether your organization operates under DOT regulations, Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requirements, or non-regulated workplace alcohol testing policies, the Full Data System provides the documentation needed to support compliance and quality assurance.

What Information is Collected, Documented, and Printed?

The Alco-Sensor RBT VXL full data system is a premium breathalyzer from Intoximeters that is programmed with both a Quick Test mode and Full Data capture mode so the operator determines the amount of testing information collected and the speed of each test.

Quick Test mode collects and prints the following data on the test result:

  • Subject’s name
  • Subject’s ID number
  • Reason for the test

Full Data mode collects and prints the following data on the test result:

  • Subject’s name
  • Subject’s ID number
  • Company name
  • Breath Alcohol Technician’s ID
  • Reason for the test

In addition to the information collected during the test, each print out includes:

  • Instrument name and serial number
  • Test date and time
  • Device operating temperature
  • Unique testing number
  • Air Blank results
  • Test results as a 3-digit BrAC

This level of documentation reduces handwritten records while helping employers maintain consistent, organized testing files.

Why Employers Choose the Full Data System

Every workplace alcohol testing program has different documentation requirements. Some employers simply need a printed alcohol test result showing the basic DOT-required printed information.

Others require more rigorous chain-of-custody with printed results identifying who was tested, who administered the test, why it was performed, and when it occurred. These organizations often face regulatory oversight, internal audits, or legal scrutiny where complete documentation is essential.

The Alco-Sensor RBT VXL Full Data System was designed specifically for these requirements.

Alco-Sensor VXL Full Data System benefits include:

  • Comprehensive subject information captured during testing
  • Breath Alcohol Technician identification recorded with every test
  • Employer and testing location documentation
  • Test reason documentation
  • Consistent testing workflow that promotes standardized procedures
  • Documentation that supports internal audits and regulatory inspections

Ideal for Highly Regulated Testing Programs

The Full Data System is an excellent choice for organizations where complete documentation is a critical part of the alcohol testing program.

Typical applications include:

  • DOT-regulated employers
  • Nuclear power facilities operating under NRC fitness-for-duty programs
  • Electric utilities
  • Pipeline operators
  • Public transportation agencies
  • Manufacturing facilities
  • Occupational health clinics
  • Third-Party Administrators (TPAs)
  • Alcohol testing sites
  • Safety-sensitive employers

For NRC-regulated facilities, complete documentation helps support fitness-for-duty programs by creating detailed test print outs that attach to the Alcohol Test form to create a complete chain-of-custody.

Calibration

RBT VXL Calibration Information

Accuracy Checks and Calibration Adjustments

There are two procedures used to maintain the accuracy of alcohol testing instruments. The operator performs the Accuracy Check procedure to determine if the instrument is reading correctly. If the Accuracy Check procedure determines that the instrument is not reading correctly, the operator performs a Calibration Adjustment procedure. The operator must have acceptable Accuracy Check and Calibration Equipment to perform the Accuracy Check and Calibration Adjustment procedure.

Frequency of Accuracy Checks

In general, Intoximeters recommends performing Accuracy Checks at least once a month. Programs may develop their own policies to perform Accuracy Checks at more frequent intervals.

Frequency of Calibration Adjustments

In general, Intoximeters does not require the operator to perform periodic Calibration Adjustments. Calibration Adjustments are performed only when an Accuracy Check procedure determines that the instrument is not reading correctly. Agencies may develop their own policies that require periodic Calibration Adjustments.
