In order to be able to perform DOT urine drug tests, the collector must take regulations training and perform 5 mock tests in front of an instructor. What we find is that many times a supervisor who trains and gets certified as a collector instructor does not have 4-6 hours to train their staff in the DOT regulations. Instead, they will choose to put their students through the online regulations course and then they will oversee the 5 mock collections. It saves a supervisor/trainer valuable time and money.

The DOT regulations part of the training takes on average 1.5 – 2 hours, depending upon your knowledge and skills. This course only covers the regulations and is ideal for business who want to put their employees through regulations training online and then they oversee the 5 mock collections. You must have regulations training and complete 5 mocks in order to get your DOT Specimen Collector certificate. If you do not have someone who is certified to train to oversee your mocks, you need to select and take the online Specimen Collector Regulations with Mocks course instead.
To take this course, you will need a computer with speakers and a webcam. After you complete regulations training, you will select an available date and time to log in and complete your 5 mock collections in the presence of an instructor who is watching you through your webcam.

The certification shows that you are trained in performing DOT specimen collector training. Typically your employer would pay for you to take this training. We have seen people that opt to pay on their own to secure work, which can also be done. This certification should be accepted by any employer who is hiring someone to perform DOT urine collections for drug testing.
