Description
Alco-Screen 02 Saliva Alcohol Screening Device
The Alco-Screen 02 saliva alcohol screening device is approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) as an Alcohol Screening Device and appears on NHTSA’s Conforming Products List of Alcohol Screening Devices. DOT approval means that the Alco-Screen 02 reliably and accurately detects alcohol at the 0.02 concentration or higher, and does not give false positive readings when no alcohol is present. DOT approval allows users to use the Alco-Screen 02 for alcohol screening tests required by Dept. of Transportation regulations.
Easy to Use and Gives Fast Results
Saturate the test pad with the subject’s saliva for 5 seconds. Then lay the test strip on a flat surface and start a four minute timer. At four minutes, read the test results.
Alco-Screen 02 Gives Pass/Fail Results
Because the proportion of alcohol in saliva is directly related to the proportion of alcohol in blood, the Alco-Screen can easily and quickly detect the presence of alcohol. Alcohol concentrations of 0.02 or greater cause a solid green line to form on the reagent pad. If no alcohol is present the reagent pad remains unchanged.
Question
Bill Schwartz –
We had a test that was negative in the five minutes after it was done. Then, some six hours later, one of the strips seemed to show that it was blue. We need to address why it changed.

Hi Bill. The instructions say not to read the test result strip after 20 minutes. You go by the test result that displays in the 5 minute window.

Hi, we have these saliva alcohol detectors from July 2016. Are these expired ?
I wait an answer.
Thanks

Hi Nicolas,
If the package says they expire in July of 2016, then you should not use them. It is considered a fatal flaw if you use an expired test.

Hello. 5/2023 is the expiration date for products currently on our shelf. We typically inventory and sell our rapidly so they don’t stay around for long. Most of the time products in inventory show 12 mo expiration dates, sometimes 10 mos. When did you purchase the product? Please contact customer service at 800.227.9890 and they can look up your order to see the lot no and exp date sold to you and when it was sold. If the product was just sent to you with only a 5 mo. expiration date, we will be glad to help with a solution.

If you only need a screening device, this is a great device. I have been using them for years off and on and I have never had a false positive or any other issues with these strips.
