Designated Employer Representative Training
Ensuring compliance is ultimately the employer’s responsibility and is typically carried out by the company’s Designated Employer Representative or DER. Whether you’re stepping into this role for the first time or you’ve been handling DER responsibilities for a while, this course will help deepen your understanding of the regulations, procedures, and best practices involved in managing a DOT compliant testing program.
By the end of the course you will:
- Understand the role and responsibilities of the employer and the DER as outlined in 49 CFR, Part 40 regulations and modal regulations
- Know the service agents involved in the DOT testing process and how they interact with the DER
- Recognize the importance of proper documentation, training, communication, and confidentiality
- Know how to handle test results, refusals to test, and problem testing situations that require DER action
- Know the various testing methods, timelines, and how testing is performed
- Know DOT prohibited conduct and rule violations and how to properly respond according to federal and modal regulations
- Be able to confidently oversee and manage your DOT drug and alcohol testing program
- Be eligible to receive continuing education credits
Upon successful course completion student’s receive a certificate of completion.
