This online Breath Alcohol Technician training covers the DOT regulations for breath alcohol testing as outlined in 49 CFR Part 40, as well as training in the operation of the Alco-Sensor VXL/RBT VXL breath alcohol instrument. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive your Breath Alcohol Technician certificate showing proficiency in 49 CFR Part 40 and in the operation of the Alco-Sensor VXL/RBT VXL breath alcohol instrument. Training certificates are good for 5 years.
The DOT Regulations and Instrument training are conducted as an online course, so you can learn at your own pace. The 7 mock alcohol tests are conducted online via a live MS Teams session. This course is ideal for anyone taking BAT training for the first time or 5-year recertification training.
What is Alco-Sensor VXL BAT Training?
Alco-Sensor VXL BAT Training prepares Breath Alcohol Technicians to perform DOT-compliant alcohol testing using the Intoximeters Alco-Sensor VXL evidential breath testing device. The course combines DOT regulations training under 49 CFR Part 40 with instrument-specific proficiency instruction and required mock alcohol testing exercises.
Students learn how to properly operate the Alco-Sensor VXL, conduct screening and confirmation tests, complete Alcohol Testing Forms (ATFs), identify common testing errors, conduct required accuracy checks, and follow DOT procedures for workplace alcohol testing programs. Students may opt for additional calibration technician training, allowing them to calibrate a device should it fail a routine accuracy check.
