Cannabix breath test kits provide the single-use supplies needed to collect breath samples with the Cannabix Breath Collection Unit (BCU). Each sealed kit supports a standardized, observed, and non-invasive specimen collection process for laboratory testing.
Unlike urine or hair testing, which may identify drug exposure long after use, breath testing is designed to provide information that is more closely associated with recent drug use. This makes Cannabix breath collection suitable for non-DOT workplace testing, post-incident programs, treatment and recovery programs, criminal justice applications, and other situations where the timing of drug use matters.
These are collection kits—not instant drug tests. The Cannabix BCU collects the breath specimen in a specialized cartridge. The sealed sample is then transported to the designated laboratory for analysis using sensitive mass spectrometry technology.
The Cannabix Breath Collection Unit is required and sold separately. Laboratory testing fees are also billed separately.

Cannabix THC Breath Test Kits
The Cannabix THC Breath Test Kit (item #392) is designed for laboratory analysis of cannabinoids collected in exhaled breath. The laboratory analyzes the sample for:
- Delta-9 THC
- Delta-8 THC
- Cannabidiol, or CBD
- Cannabinol, or CBN
A peer-reviewed study published in the Journal of Analytical Toxicology reported a validated LC-MS/MS method for quantifying delta-9 THC, delta-8 THC, CBD, and CBN in breath aerosols collected with the Cannabix BCU. Cannabix 6-Panel Drug Breath Test Kits
The Cannabix 6-panel option (item #392-6), collects a breath sample for laboratory analysis across six drug categories:
- Amphetamine
- Cocaine
- Methamphetamines, including MDMA and MDA
- Opiates and selected semi-synthetic opioids
- Marijuana and cannabinoids
- Phencyclidine, or PCP
Although the panel resembles commonly used workplace drug-testing panels, it is intended for non-federal testing programs. It is not a DOT-approved specimen or testing method.
What Is Included in Each Cannabix Breath Test Kit?
Every individually sealed kit contains the supplies needed for one collection:
- One Cannabix breath collection cartridge with sealing caps
- Separate A and B sample collection within one cartridge
- One ambient-air collection cartridge
- One saliva-trap mouthpiece
- Security seals
- Laboratory transport bag
- Collection and shipping instructions
The ambient-air sample helps establish a background control for potential airborne contamination. The primary and secondary samples help support specimen integrity and allow separate analysis when required.

These kits are not authorized for federally regulated drug-testing programs, including DOT, SAMHSA-regulated, or U.S. military testing. Cannabix similarly states that its marijuana breath test is intended to detect recent use—not whether or how much a person is impaired.
