You only need to conduct a “calibration” on the Alco-Sensor IV when it fails a “calibration check”, which is also known as an “accuracy check”. According to the manufacturer’s QAP, you must conduct a “calibration check” on the instrument every 31 days and document those properly in a calibration log book. The QAP also states that is is highly recommended to conduct an calibration check following a positive confirmation test. This ensures the accuracy of the positive confirmation breath test. We cover calibration checks in our training class. We also teach and certify students on how to perform a calibration.
