Description

The Alco-Screen 02 is a DOT-approved saliva alcohol test designed for fast, accurate, and compliant alcohol screening in workplace and safety-sensitive environments. This Alcohol Screening Device (ASD) is listed on the NHTSA Conforming Products List, making it fully compliant for federally regulated testing programs.

Fast, Reliable Alcohol Detection at 0.02 BAC

The Alco-Screen 02 detects alcohol at the critical 0.02% blood alcohol concentration (BAC) threshold, the federal standard for DOT testing.
Using a saliva-based method, the test provides a highly accurate reflection of blood alcohol levels, ensuring dependable screening results.

Why Choose Alco-Screen 02 Over Breathalyzers?

DOT & NHTSA Compliant: Specifically cleared for use in Department of Transportation mandated alcohol testing programs.

High Sensitivity: Accurately detects blood alcohol concentration (BAC) at the 0.02% threshold or higher.

Zero False Positives: Engineered to remain unchanged when no alcohol is present, ensuring reliable “Pass” results.

Cost-Effective Screening: Provides a non-invasive alternative to breathalyzers without sacrificing accuracy.

No Calibration or Instrumentation: Unlike breathalyzers, the Alco-Screen 02 requires no calibration or external instrumentation to operate.

Simple 4-Minute Testing Procedure

The Alco-Screen 02 is designed for ease of use in the field or office. This rapid alcohol screening test delivers clear pass/fail results in only 4 minutes, allowing employers and program administrators to make immediate decisions. Follow these three steps for rapid results:

  • Saturate: Instruct the donor to place the strip and test pad in their mouth and saturate the reactive test pad for 5 seconds.
  • Wait: Instruct the donor to place the saturated test strip on a flat surface and start a timer for 4 minutes.
  • Read: At the end of 4 minutes read the reagent pad by looking for the absence or presence of a distinct line. Do not read the test strip after 5 minutes.

How to Use the Alco-Screen 02

Interpreting Screening Test Results

The Alco-Screen 02 utilizes a highly reactive reagent pad that correlates saliva alcohol levels directly to blood alcohol concentration.

ResultObservationMeaning
PassNo color change on the reagent pad.BAC is below 0.020%
FailA solid green line forms. The line may vary in intensity.BAC is 0.020% or greater

Note: Because saliva alcohol levels closely mirror blood alcohol levels, the Alco-Screen 02 provides a dependable “Pass/Fail” indicator for safety-sensitive positions and regulatory compliance.

  1. Question

    Bill Schwartz

We had a test that was negative in the five minutes after it was done. Then, some six hours later, one of the strips seemed to show that it was blue. We need to address why it changed.

Hi Bill. The instructions say not to read the test result strip after 20 minutes. You go by the test result that displays in the 5 minute window.

      Hi Nicolas,

If the package says they expire in July of 2016, then you should not use them. It is considered a fatal flaw if you use an expired test.

Hello. 5/2023 is the expiration date for products currently on our shelf. We typically inventory and sell our rapidly so they don’t stay around for long. Most of the time products in inventory show 12 mo expiration dates, sometimes 10 mos. When did you purchase the product? Please contact customer service at 800.227.9890 and they can look up your order to see the lot no and exp date sold to you and when it was sold. If the product was just sent to you with only a 5 mo. expiration date, we will be glad to help with a solution.

If you only need a screening device, this is a great device. I have been using them for years off and on and I have never had a false positive or any other issues with these strips.
