ETG Alcohol Metabolite Test
The EtG alcohol test is an instant urine alcohol metabolite test. Highly reliable, the EtG alcohol test has the longest window of detection of any test method available…up to 80 hours after consumption. For forensic use only, this test is ideal for abstinence enforcement programs.
Fast and Easy to Use
This test measures alcohol metabolites and works like an instant drug test kit. The collector dips the test strip into the specimen cup for 10-15 seconds and lays the test strip on a flat surface. After several minutes lines will develop in the control and test regions. A control line first develops to indicate the test kit is working correctly. Lines formed in the test region indicate the test is negative. The presence of the EtG metabolite at or above the cutoff level will prevent a line from forming at the test indicator. In other words, a positive test result occurs when a line does not form at the test indicator.
What is EtG?
Ethyl glucuronide (EtG) is a direct metabolite of ethyl alcohol which is a marker for recent alcohol consumption. EtG may be detected as soon as 2 hours and up to 80 hours after alcohol consumption.
What about false positives?
The cutoff level for the EtG alcohol test is 500 ng/ml. This eliminates most false positives that may occur from incidental environmental exposure to alcohol-based products.
