Rapid Gabapentin Urine Dip Drug Test
The CheckPoint instant gabapentin urine dip drug test is a cost-effective screening test, providing preliminary test results. Test results are ready to read at 5 minutes with results stable for up to 10 minutes. This rapid on-site drug test detects gabapentin and Neurontin and their metabolites at the cutoff concentrations of 2,000 ng/mL in human urine. This test is not FDA cleared and is intended for Forensic use only. Used as a preliminary screening test, the instant gabapentin urine dip drug test requires no instrumentation or laboratory analysis.
Why Test for Gabapentin or Neurontin?
Gabapentin (GAB), marketed under the brand name Neurontin, is an anticonvulsant medication used to treat epilepsy and neuropathic pain in adults. Although a non-narcotic medication thought to have a low abuse profile, gabapentin is increasing in its illicit use. It is currently being used as a means to ease withdrawal symptoms. It is also being abused by those on methadone in an effort to intensify the effects of the methadone, giving a semi-euphoric feeling.
Interpreting Test Results
A red colored line should be observed in the control region marked C to indicate the test is performing properly. If no red line appears in the control region, the test is invalid and should be discarded and the operator should perform another test using a new dip cartridge. A red colored line observed in the test region indicates a presumptive negative test result. The color and density of the red line may vary in the control and test regions. A presumptive positive test result occurs if no red line appears in the test region.
The instant gabapentin urine dip drug test provides qualitative preliminary results which only indicates the presumptive presence of the drug in the system. It does not measure the amount of gabapentin or Neurontin in a subject’s system.
