Collector Refresher Training Shortcuts?
We are frequently asked if there is a “shortcut” for refresher training for Collectors. For example, will a quick review of the split-specimen collection procedure satisfy the requirement for refresher training?
The answer is that there is no training shortcut for Collector Refresher training. The regulations are unambiguous on this point. Here is what the regulations state:
40.33 (e): Refresher training. No less frequently than every five years from the date on which you satisfactorily complete the requirements of paragraphs (b) and (c) of this section, you must complete refresher training that meets all the requirements of paragraphs (b) and (c) of this section.
Paragraph (b), titled “Qualification Training,” describes the knowledge requirements of collector training. Paragraph (c), titled “Initial Proficiency Demonstration,” describes the mock collection requirements of the training. These two paragraphs describe, in a nutshell, the basic requirements for Collector Training, whether for initial training or refresher training.
We understand the attraction of a “quickie” Collector Refresher class. However, we at AlcoPro are sticklers for compliance, and there is no shortcut to doing collector refresher training.
